Privacy.
Understand where your information goes.
Local transfers
Local sharing does not require an account or an internet connection. Your chosen files and messages go to the selected recipient. Discovery communicates with devices on your network.
Settings on your device
The app keeps settings, identity, favourites and configured transfer history locally. Windows settings use the Neardock app-data folder or portable settings.json. Android uses Neardock’s own app sandbox. Existing LocalSend data is not imported.
Chat and Clipboard
Conversations are stored locally by default. Disable history or clear conversations in Chat & Clipboard settings. History is protected by your device’s normal app-data controls and is not separately encrypted at rest. Unsent drafts stay in memory. Clipboard access happens only when you explicitly paste or copy; there is no automatic synchronisation. Older receive-history text is managed separately through the existing history controls.
Optional online features
Cross-network WebRTC sharing is disabled in this release. The retained experimental source includes signalling and STUN endpoints, but ordinary app startup does not connect to them. Opening support, donation, website or release links contacts those external services. GitHub update checks, when enabled, contact GitHub; local file transfers remain on your network.
This website
No analytics, cookies, external font requests or accounts are added by this site. GitHub hosts the website and downloads and may process request information under its privacy policy.
Your control
Choose recipients and save destinations carefully. Settings resets and deletion of received files are separate actions. Back up anything you want to keep before uninstalling or deliberately clearing data.
